Start-Ups Air Belgium obtains AOC

Air Belgium has received its Air operator´s certificate (AOC), as the airline hinted on its Social Media pages.

The AOC was issued by the Belgian Civil Aviation Administration DGTA. Air Belgium is now eligible to launch long-haul flights between Brussels Charleroi and Hong Kong. The carrier plans to commence flights in mid- April 2018. As the airline will focus to connect Belgium with the Asian market, six new routes will be launched as of May 2018.

Air Belgium has two used Airbus A340-300s in its fleet. The company´s first A340-300 is currently being painted in its new livery at Brussels Airport.

In a report published by aviation24.be, Air Belgium CEO Niky Terzakis commented on the milestone: “Proud achievement for my wonderful team. Very grateful for all the hard work and determination. I must also highlight the great work and support of the Belgian Civil Aviation Administration throughout this 4-month process!”

Recently, Air Belgium has announced, that it has scrapped its plan to acquire wet-leased aircraft for short-haul flights. The carrier will rely on its network of partners to establish possible flights in Europe.
