Announced in February last year, Start-Up carrier Breeze Airways has now commenced with scheduled passenger services. The low-cost airline, which was created by JetBlue founder David Neeleman, is initially serving a network of 16 destinations.

For this upcoming summer flight schedule, Breeze Airways is planning to use a fleet of 13 Embraer E190 family aircraft. In October, the carrier hopes to take delivery of its first of 60 Airbus A220. Over the next five years, the low-cost carrier seeks to operate with all ordered aircraft.

Initially, 10 Embraer E190 have been welcomed to the fleet along with three larger E195s. All 13 aircraft are on lease and will firstly operate flights between Charleston, Tampa and Hartford in the United States. In June, more and more passenger services will be started.

David Neeleman, CEO and Founder of Breeze Airways said: “Embraer’s E-Jets are phenomenal at building out new airlines and growing and supporting new routes. They are the masters at doing this, as proven by my previous airline ventures – and no middle seats! The flexibility the family of aircraft provides, allows us to meet fluctuating demand profitably – exactly what all airlines need right now. Having the E-Jets as a core part of our team gives me enormous confidence.”

Mark Neely, Vice President Sales, Americas at Embraer, said: “It’s great to be part of another Neeleman airline project. Launching Breeze with an Embraer fleet is an endorsement of the value these aircraft bring, allowing Breeze to establish new point-to-point routes in underserved markets, bringing much needed connectivity, protecting yields, managing demand, and doing so profitably.”

David Neeleman has been successfully launched airlines like JetBlue and Azul Airlines. Breeze Airways is aiming to offer low fares with high flexibility for its customers. 108 passengers can be accommodated onboard the E190s and 118 onboard the E195s, making the E190 family a suitable product for this business model.

Next to the Embraer aircraft, Breeze has also signed a long-term Pool Program Agreement with the Brazilian manufacturer. The E190 family fleet will be supported with a wide range of components. Full repair coverage and access to a large stock of OEM components will help the airline in starting operations as smooth as possible.
