Cambodia is one of the fastest growing airline markets in the world. Several smaller airlines have commenced operations in the last years, offering domestic and international operations.

Now, a new carrier with the name Cambodia Airways, has announced to launch first flights on July 10, 2018. The airline will connect its hub in Phnom Penh with Siem Reap (1x daily) and Sihanoukville (3x daily). International flights from all three Cambodian airports to Macau will start on July 21, 2018.

According to its website, the main operating bases of Cambodia Airways are in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville. Cambodia Airways plans to acquire 20 A320 family aircraft within the next five years. As media reports, first flights in July will be operated with leased Airbus A319.

The new carrier will face with heavy competition on all served routes. Cambodian carriers like Cambodia Angkor Air, Cambodia Bayon Airlines, JC International, Lanmei Airlines and Sky Angkor Airlines operate flights between Cambodian airports and several, mostly Chinese airports. The South East Asian country with its tourist attractions in Siem Reap, Angkor Wat, attracts more and more mostly Asian tourists.

Note: An earlier version of this article stated that Cambodia Airways was 100% owned by Prince International Airlines Co. This was corrected following an information from a representative of the airline.
