Fly Erbil has started its international operations with a flight from Erbil to Stockholm. An event was held at the Erbil airport to celebrate the start of operations.

Initially, Fly Erbil was established in 2015 and received its Air Operator´s Certificate (AOC) later that year. The carrier started to operate local and international flights, chasing the aim to offer international standards and comfort on board.

Due-to conflicts with the Islamic State´s offensive in the country, the launch of the airlines has been delayed for almost three years.

This Monday, the carrier performed its first schedule passenger flight as Iraq´s only Kurdish airline. According to the airlines´ website, Fly Erbil seeks to expand its international routes with connections from Erbil to Amsterdam (Netherlands), Nuremberg (Germany), Birmingham (United Kingdom), Kiev (Ukraine) and Gothenburg (Sweden).

The operator seeks to target large Iraqi communities and investors in the countries.

Fly Erbil hopes to expand its fleet to 10 aircraft in the future. Currently, the fleet consists of three aircraft.
