Start-Ups FlyBondi commences operations

Argentinia’s first low cost carrier FlyBondi has commenced operations.

The carrier has commenced scheduled operations with is maiden flight from Cordoba International Airport to Iguazu and San Carlos de Bariloche. In the next days and months, FlyBondi will expand its network and add additional flights from Buenos Aires El Palomar Airport. El Palomar Airport is a military airport and FlyBondi will be the first carrier to operate scheduled passenger ops from the airport. El Palomar will be the second airport in Greater Buenos Aires. Ministro Pistarini International Airport is the major airport and a hub for Aerolineas Argentinas.

The first flights were operated with a Boeing 737-800 in a single class configuration for 189 passengers. In the next months, the carrier will add 9 additional aircraft of the same type to the fleet. FlyBondi will focus on domestic connections in Argentina. The country with over 43 million inhabitants has a growing demand for domestic flights. Until now, the flag carrier Aerolineas Argentinas, its subsidiary Austral Lineas Aereas and Andes Lineas Aereas offerd domestic flights. In addition to FlyBondi, Norwegian Air Shuttle Argentina has received its AOC to commence operations in Argentina in the next weeks. The upcoming new competitors could put pressure on Aerolineas Argentinas.

FlyBondi was founded in 2016 by Julian Cook. The carrier plans to expand operations and operate a fleet of around 30 aircraft in 2021.
