On October 27, 2017 Powdair informed the general public that a main investor had walked away from the start-up carrier. Until now, Powdair has not found a new investor which forces the carrier to cancel all planned flights in the next weeks. The carrier was affected by the insolvency of Swiss Darwin Airlines which should have operated flights on behalf of Powdair.

The carrier now plans to commence operations with a new investor in 2018. Powdair planned to offer flights from several European cities to its hub Sion Airport which is an attractive winter sport destination.

On the website, Powdair stated: “Firstly, we’ve had a significant investment offer from a professional and experienced aviation industry investor. Although we’re not in a position to confirm the identity of our new potential partner at this stage, their involvement will secure the financial future of Powdair. (…) We expect to relaunch during 2018 as an airline, operating our own aircraft, which gives us a much stronger basis on which to plan route schedules.”

Powdair announces on its website that all booked tickets will be refunded in full.
