Start-Ups Powdair facing financial problems
Start-up airline Powdair has announced it is facing financial problems as the most important investor gave up for personal reasons. The carrier states that the management could be forced to postpone the start of operations if no new investor is found in the next days. If the virtual airline does not find an investor for at least 1 million pounds until the end of this week it will not commence operations.
The Dublin-based carrier Powdair planned to commence operations on December 11, 2017. By connecting its hub Sion Airport with several destinations in the UK, Zurich and Antwerp, the carrier wants to offer better connections to several ski resorts in the Valais region.
"Just as the Powdair operation begins to snowball, today's setback is both unexpected and potentially disastrous for our airline, booked passengers and resort partners. Operational systems and strategies are already in place, whilst ticket sales are very strong and exceeding expectations. Powdair is ready to go, but we now desperately need investment. I'd personally like to hear from anyone interested in owning either a small or large part of our airline", said Powdair’s CFO Sean Pettit.
All Powdair flights were planned to be operated by external partners. For the winter season the carrier planned to cooperate with Danish BackBone Aviation and the bankrupt Darwin Airline.
