Start-Ups VLM Airlines announces new European routes

VLM Airlines has announced, that it will start operating flights from Antwerp to Birmingham as well as flights from Antwerp to Maribor, with a short stop-over in Munich.

The routes will be commenced from February 12, 2018 on weekdays. The carrier will use Fokker 50 aircraft. Adding to the existing connection between Antwerp and London-City, VLM further expands its presence in Europe. Furthermore, on January 22, 2018 VLM Airlines started offering air services between Antwerp and Zurich.

Regarding the new route to Birmingham, Karl Rickard, CEO of VLM Airlines said: “VLM Airlines is very happy to connect Antwerp with Birmingham again. Antwerp is one of the largest seaports in Europe, the diamond capital of the world, the second largest petrochemical centre in the world. This thriving city is also known for its bold and diverse arts, fashion and culinary scene. A short ride takes you to other popular Belgian cities including Bruges, Ghent and Brussels as well as to Dutch cities such as Rotterdam and Eindhoven.”

VLM Airlines is a subsidiary of the Belgian company SHS Antwerp Aviation, which is headquartered in the Netherlands. VLM employs 100 people, while the fleet consists of 6 Fokker 50 turboprop aircraft and two Airbus A320 aircraft. The Fokker 50´s seat 50 passengers, while the Airbus A320 can carry 180 passengers. 3 of the Fokker are operating under a Slovenian AOC.
