Eurowings has taken delivery of Air Berlin´s last former aircraft. The integration of the fleet was accomplished in record time.
Some days after LaudaMotion announced a cooperation with Ryanair, the new Austrian carrier confirmed it will operate eight aircraft for Lufthansa’s low cost subsidiary Eurowings.
The last Air Berlin flight has touched down at Berlin-Tegel on Friday, marking the end of existence for the German airline. AB6210 (callsign “BER4EVER”), inbound from Munich, landed at 23:45 local time and was said goodbye by the airport fire brigade with a water salute. Over 400 aviation enthusiasts witnessed the final landing from the visitor terrace at Berlin-Tegel Airport.
Germany's largest carrier Lufthansa has signed a contract to buy parts of Air Berlin. The carrier confirmed the signature on Twitter. Lufthansa will take more than half of the fleet of 144 aircraft and 3000 of Air Berlin's 8500 staff.
