Airlines WestJet to introduce WestJet link

The Canadian airline WestJet has announced the launch of a new WestJet Link service, that will connect smaller airports with WestJet’s hub at the Calgary International Airport. WestJet Link will offer flights from Calgary to Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Cranbrook, Lloydminster and Prince George.

Start-Ups Young Malaysian start-up FlyGlobal plans to expand its fleet

The young Malaysian airline FlyGlobal, a Charter wet lease/ACMI operator, has announced plans to expand its existing fleet by up to ten Boeing 777-200ER by 2021. FlyGlobal’s CEO Shami Law stated the aircraft should be leased to different interested companies.

Airports Singapore Airport tests smart digital tower

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has announced a cooperation with the UK-based air traffic management provider NATS. This contract has a value of around seven million US dollar and includes the development of a prototype for a smart digital tower which should go into testing on Singapore’s Changi airport over a period of 22 months. CAAS plans to evaluate the operational feasibility before determining the suitability and robustness of such a smart digital tower for a busy airport like Changi Airport.

Industry Canadian North announces own MMRO hangar at Edmonton Airport

Canadian North has announced to open its own Manufacturing, Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MMRO) facility at Edmonton International Airport. The airline plans to opened the hangar in the first quarter of 2018.

According to an article published by the South China Morning Post, China’s leading private courier SF Express has acquired two Boeing 747-400F aircraft via an online auction on Alibaba’s e-shopping platform Taobao, for a price of 322.8 million yuan, which is equal to approximately 49 million US-dollars.

Helicopters First AW101 for Royal Norwegian Air Force delivered

Industry Airbus A350-1000 receives type certification

Airbus has announced, that the A350-1000 has received its type certification. The document was officially signed by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Airlines Wizz Air expands operations at London Luton Airport

Wizz Air has announced a massive expansion at its London Luton base, with the addition of four Airbus A320 aircraft to the hubs fleet by June 2018. The allocation of four more Airbus A320 aircraft, each equipped with 186 seats, brings the total number of aircraft in Wizz Air’s Luton fleet to five.

General Aviation Cessna delivers first Grand Caravan EX to Tuareg Aviation

Textron Aviation has announced at Dubai Airshow that its subsidiary Cessna has begun delivery to Tuareg Aviation for 10 Cessna Grand Caravan EX turboprops. The aircraft will be operated by Mack Air Ltd to provide charter, cargo and logistic services between a network of independently owned bush safari lodges in the popular Okavango Delta and Kalahari Plains regions of Botswana. The aircraft will partially replace Mack Air’s current fleet, which currently also includes Grand Caravan turboprops.

Industry Nordic Aviation Capital orders two Bombardier Dash 8 Q-400

The Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier has announced, that a firm purchase agreement has been made for two Dash 8 Q-400 aircraft with Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) in September 2017. According to Bombardier, “NAC will lease these two Q400 aircraft to Jambojet Ltd, based in Nairobi, Kenya”.
