Aircraft manufacturer Embraer and its subsidiary EmbraerX have announced, that its project Eve Air Mobility Solutions (Eve) has been launched as separate and independent company. Eve´s work is dedicated to accelerating the Urban Air Mobility ecosystem.

Eve has previously been incubated for almost four year with EmbraerX and the decision to establish the project as independent company underlines the ambitions of the manufacturer to develop a full portfolio of UAM solutions in the future.

André Stein, who is the former head of strategy at EmbraerX, has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Eve. Main objectives of Eve are the certification of electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles (eVTOL), “the associated comprehensive services and support network, and the creation of urban air traffic management solutions,” as the manufacturer stated.

Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO of Embraer commented: “We value the vast potential of the UAM market, as it represents a new business segment in which we foresee significant opportunities for Embraer. Innovation and diversification are key pillars of Embraer’s new strategic plan, which will increase revenue and improve profitability over the next few years [...] That is why I am eager to announce Eve, the first company to graduate from EmbraerX. Eve stands primed to create a new frontier in transportation with intelligent, environmentally friendly, autonomous-ready aircraft and the associated ubiquitous support and urban air traffic management solutions.”

Working as own company, Eve will benefit from better speed and agility, allowing innovations at a faster speed. EmbraerX here sees the opportunity of the company to fully capitalize on the global UAM market.

Since its inception in 2017, EmbraerX has been part of the Uber Elevate Network and Eric Allison, Head of Uber Elevate said about Eve: “Eve’s launch is an important next step in commercializing Embraer’s eVTOL designs while building on Embraer’s ability to design, certify, and deliver safe, globally-accepted aircraft. We look forward to our continued partnership to make aerial ridesharing a reality”.

In July 2020, the Eve eVTOL performed the first flight in the engineering simulator and in partnership with Embraer and subsidiary Atech, Eve is expected to soon create new solution that will help scaling the UAM industry.
