Airlines Air Cairo receives first Airbus A320neo

Egyptian carrier Air Cairo has officially taken delivery of its first Airbus A320neo.

During a delivery ceremony held at Airbus´ facilities at Toulouse in France, Air Cairo has taken delivery of its very first Airbus A320neo. The versatile aircraft will enable the carrier to open up new routes and destinations.

Egypt´s low-fare airline will modernize its fleet with this latest delivery. The aircraft joins an all-Airbus fleet of seven aircraft. Airbus stated that the aircraft is on lease from ICBC Leasing and that it has been equipped with CFM LEAP-1A engines.

With the A320neo, the airline is able to deploy a state-of-the-art aircraft on its regional and international network. Air Cairo plans to use the A320neo on routes across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

The carrier has configured its A320neo with 186 seats in an all-economy-class cabin. Onboard, passengers will benefit from the widest aircraft cabin of any single-aisle aircraft and state-of-the-art inflight entertainment system.

Regarding the A320neo Family, Airbus stated: “The A320neo Family incorporates the very latest technologies including new generation engines, Sharklets and aerodynamics, which together deliver 20% in fuel savings and CO2 reduction compared to previous generation Airbus aircraft. The A320neo Family has won more than 7,450 orders from over 120 customers.“

Furthermore, the airline added regarding the delivery: “With improved levels of efficiency, the new aircraft will be deployed on Air Cairo’s regional and international network to serve countries across Europe, Africa and the Middle East – demonstrating the operational flexibility of the A320neo. Air Cairo’s fleet expansion and modernization strategy coincides with the airline’s decision to open more routes, fostering closer links with countries across continents.“

Air Cairo is a low-cost carrier from Egypt and has its main operational base at Cairo International Airport. Currently, the airline operates flights with a fleet of one Airbus A320neo and seven A320ceos. The carrier was founded in 2003.
