Airlines Alaska Airlines and Fiji Airways expand codeshare agreement

Alaska Airlines deepens its partnership with Fiji Airways by expanding codeshare agreements on routes from San Francisco to two popular US cities.

Fiji Airways will now be able to place its ”FJ” code on Alaska Airlines flights from San Francisco to Seattle and from San Francisco to Portland. The new agreement will offer Fiji Airways customers seamless connections to these cities. Alaska Airlines guests can use the connections to Fiji as well.

Alaska Airlines passengers are able to earn and redeem miles for travelling on Fiji Airways flights, and vice-versa.

Mr. Andre Viljoen, Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO, said: “This codeshare agreement is a major milestone for Fiji Airways as we continue to grow our network and expand our footprint in the region [...] Our expanded partnership offers guests on our SFO services excellent connections to both cities with a significant population of residents with Fijian roots. We will now also be able to attract Seattle and Portland residents to our home – Fiji – which is one of the world’s most sought-after tourist destinations, as well as the South Pacific.”

Two times weekly, Fiji Airways operates direct services from Nadi to San Francisco. In the months of January, June, July, August and December, the route is being served three times a week. Fiji Airways also offers daily flights from Nadi to Los Angeles and three flights a week between Nadi and Honolulu.

Alaska Airlines is headquartered in Seattle, Washington. Recently, the carrier acquired US-airline Virgin America. Therefore, the fleet consists of 221 aircraft, including 10 Airbus A319, 53 Airbus A320, 5 Airbus A321neo, 13 Boeing 737-700, 61 737-800 and 79 737-900. Alaska Airlines flies to 118 destinations and hires over 11,500 employees.

Fiji Airways is the flag carrier of Fiji. The airline is headquartered in Nadi and operates with 4 Airbus A330 and 5 Boeing 737 Next Gen aircraft. Both regional and international destinations are being served. Overall, Fiji Airways services to 10 countries and 24 destinations.
