Airlines Alitalia and Royal Air Marco sign codeshare agreement

Alitalia and Royal Air Maroc have announced to have signed a codeshare agreement to offer more connections between Italy and Morocco.

The Italian carrier will place its “AZ” code on Royal Air Maroc flights between Casablanca and Rome, Bologna, Milan-Malpensa, Naples, Turin and Venice. Moreover, Alitalia will place its code on Royal Air Maroc regional flights from Casablanca to 11 domestic destinations. The destinations are Beni-Mellal, Tangier, Agadier, Fez, Nador, Oujda, Marrakech, Ouarzazate, Errachidia, Hassan/Laayoune and Dakhla.

On the other hand, Royal Air Maroc add its “AT” code on Alitalia flights from Casablanca to Rome. The route is being daily. Furthermore, The Moroccan carrier will place the code on 15 domestic Alitalia services from Rome to Pisa, Lamezia Terme, Venice, Verona, Turin, Bari, Bologna, Florence, Brindisi, Catania, Genova, Trieste, Naples, Palermo and Regio Calabria.

The new codeshare agreement is being established to boost the travel and tourism between the countries. Not only businessmen, but also leisure travellers will have the possibility to use more travel options, optimized flight schedules and more seamless connections. While Alitalia will profit from Royal Air Maroc´s North Africa network, Royal Air Maroc will take profit of Alitalia´s Italian network.

Alitalia is the flag carrier of Italy and was founded in 1999. The carrier is headquartered in Rome, where the main hub is located. A secondary hub has been established at Milan-Linate. The fleet consists of 118 aircraft, including 22 Airbus A319, 38 Airbus A320, 12 Airbus A321, 14 Airbus A330 and 12 Boeing 777. Subsidiary airline Alitalia CityLiner operates with 15 Embraer 175 and five Embraer 190. 100 destinations are being served in 45 countries.

Royal Air Maroc is the Moroccan national carrier and the country´s largest airline. The airline was founded back in 1957 and has its headquarters in Casablanca. The main hub is located in Casablanca as well. Royal Air Maroc operates with a fleet of 52 aircraft. One Airbus A320, 37 Boeing 737 Next Gen., one Boeing 747, four Boeing 767 and 5 Boeing 787 belong to the fleet. Royal Air Maroc serves 103 destinations in 50 countries. Subsidiaries are RAM Cargo and RAM Express.
