In spring 2019, ANA will take delivery of its first Airbus A380 as the first Japanese operator of the Superjumbo. Altogether, the carrier expects to receive three A380s.

At first, ANA will deploy the aircraft on the Tokyo – Honolulu route. Hawaii is said to be a very popular holiday and honeymoon destination for Japanese visitors. According to ANA, the airline has designed the aircraft to meet the customers´ requirements on the route. Therefore, a cabin was developed to fulfil the unique needs on the route.

Firstly, all three aircraft will wear a different special livery. In March 2017, the carrier announced a special “Flying Honu” livery, which represents the Hawaiian blue skies. Now, the carrier has announced, that the other two A380s will receive special liveries as well. The green version is inspired by the clear waters of the Hawaiian ocean, while the orange livery is an homage to the beautiful Hawaiian sunset. The names of the aircraft are Lani, Kai and Ka La.
