Airlines Easyjet commences operations in Berlin-Tegel
This Friday, Easyjet has started its inter-German flights from Berlin-Tegel. The airline will launch new routes from Berlin throughout the next days.
The first flight, U2 5569, started from Berlin-Tegel to Munich on Friday.
From Sunday on, the low-cost carrier will connect Berlin-Tegel with Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf and Munich. Furthermore, Easyjet plans to fly to 19 European destinations in the current winter season. The routes have previously been operated by Air Berlin, which went bankrupt in 2017. By starting the new routes, Easyjet enters into competition with Lufthansa and their low-cost carrier Eurowings.
Until Summer 2018, Easyje plans to base 15 A320 family aircraft in Berlin-Tegel and to cover over 40 destinations in Europe.
Until then, the airline has to acquire leased crews and aircraft for their operations. Condor, Smartlynx and WDL Aviation will operate domestic flights for Easyjet.
