Airlines Finnair and Air Serbia establish codeshare partnership

Finnair and Air Serbia have released, that the airlines have entered into a codeshare partnership.

The codeshare partnership has been agreed on in order to provide the airline´s respective passengers with new and enhanced travel opportunities within Europe and the world. The overall connectivity between the airline networks will make travel more seamless.

With this partnership, Air Serbia passengers travelling from the Republic can connect to key destinations in the United States and Asia without buying separate tickets. In addition, the baggage will be checked through until the final destination.

The agreement has started by the end of October and sees Air Serbia to put their airline code “JU” on flights operated by Finnair between Helsinki and several European destinations like Vienna, Copenhagen, Oslo, Prague or Stockholm. Furthermore, the code will be added on flights between Helsinki and domestic Finnish destinations.

In return, Finnair will place its “AY” code on flights that are being operated by Air Serbia from Belgrade to Helsinki, Vienna, Prague, Sofia and other destinations throughout Europe. This will ultimately to enhanced travel opportunities for the airline´s passengers.

“Our new codeshare partnership with Air Serbia is a great way for Finnair to expand its network and reach in Europe,” explained Philip Lewin, Head of Partnerships and Alliances at Finnair. “It will also offer excellent connections for passengers wishing to travel between Serbia and the USA as well as Asia. We are looking forward to start working with Air Serbia on these new codeshares which will enable our customers to have even more options and flexibility in their travel plans.”  

Jiri Marek, Air Serbia’s General Manager for Commercial and Strategy added: “We are glad to have established a codeshare agreement with Finnair, that provides the guests of both companies more choice and flexibility in organizing their travels. We are sure that this exciting and strategically very important partnership will improve the economic relations of our countries. We are delighted to have the opportunity to host Finnair passengers on our flights to Belgrade as well as to other Air Serbia’s destinations.”

Flights with the codeshares are bookable now on both airline´s websites.

Finnair is the flag-carrier airline of Finland and was founded in November 1923. From its hub at Helsinki, the airlines flies to over 130 destinations worldwide. The current fleet consists of eight Airbus A319s, 10 A320s, 19 A321s, eight A330s, 14 A350s and 12 Embraer ERJ-190.

Air Serbia is the flag-carrier airline of Serbia and was founded in June 1927. 59 destinations are being served. The fleet consists of six ATR 72s, nine Airbus A319s, two A320s, one A330 and two Boeing 737s.
