Airlines Okay Airways finalizes order for 5 Boeing 787-9

Tianjin based Okay Airlines has confirmed an order for five Boeing 787-9 on its official Weibo-account. The deal refers to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) made at Paris Air Show 2017. At list prices, the agreement is valued at $1.4 billion.

Tianjin based Okay Airlines has confirmed an order for five Boeing 787-9 on its official Weibo-account. The deal refers to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) made at Paris Air Show 2017. At list prices, the agreement is valued at $1.4 billion.

Li Zongling, president of Okay Airways said: "We are committed to investing in our aircraft fleet in order to keep growing ahead of the market and enhancing our customers' flying experience," Senior vice-president of global sales and marketing for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Ihssane Mounir, added: "We are honoured to welcome Okay Airways as our new 787 customer, […] the 787-9 will complement Okay's single-aisle fleet and enable them to profitably open new long-haul routes while providing their passengers unmatched comfort. We value our longstanding partnership with Okay Airways and look forward to delivering these airplanes to support their international expansion plan."

The Chinese airline plans to use the Dreamliners on international long-haul routes from Beijing Daxing International Airport, which is planned to be opened in 2019. Currently, Okay Airways operates an all-Boeing fleet with 26 next gen 737-800 and 737-900, deployed on more than 70 domestic and regional routes. At Paris Air Show 2017, the airline announced a firm order for 15 737 MAX airplanes. The order consisted of seven 737 MAX 8s and eight 737 MAX 10s, which will make the airline to be one of the launch customers for the MAX 10.
