Airlines Qatar Airways and Bulgaria Air sign codeshare agreement

Qatar Airways and Bulgaria Air have announced, that the carriers have signed a codeshare agreement.

Doha-based carrier Qatar Airways and Bulgaria Air have signed for a codeshare partnership. The first codeshare flights from Qatar Airways and Bulgaria Air will take place on 2 March this year. The announcement follows the recent partnership rumours.

With this agreement, Bulgaria Air passengers will be able to connect seamless to destinations in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Vice versa, passengers from Qatar Airways can connect trough Doha to Varna and Burgas in Bulgaria.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “This agreement with Bulgaria Air follows other recent partnership announcements we have made with airlines across the world, demonstrating our commitment to working with our peers to provide passengers seamless connectivity and unrivalled service.”

The airline has been flying to Sofia in Bulgaria since 2011. After the carrier offered a four-times weekly service, it added more weekly flights over the years. Currently, Qatar Airways flies 14 times a week to the capital.

Bulgaria Air Chief Executive Officer, Hristo Todorov, added: “It is a great pleasure for Bulgaria Air to add Qatar Airways to its partnership network, which is undoubtedly one of the most respected and prestigious airlines in the world. We are delighted that they have chosen us as a partner enabling our passengers to travel quickly and conveniently to over 170 destinations with Qatar Airways. This cooperation is only a part of our long-term development strategy and we are happy to welcome the passengers of Qatar Airways onboard our aircraft.”

This latest codeshare agreement shows Qatar Airways´ willingness to further expand its presence in Europe and passenger comfortability.

Bulgaria Air is the largest airline in the country and the flag-carrier. Currently, the airline performs flights to 25 cities in Europe and domestic flights to Varna and Burgas. The current fleet consists of two Airbus A319s, three A320s and three Embraer ERJ-190s. Bulgaria Air was founded back in 2002 and commenced operations the same year.

Qatar Airways is one of the largest airlines in the Middle East and operates flights to more than 170 destinations worldwide. In 2020, the carrier will add new destinations to its ever-growing network. The fleet consists of two A319s, 31 A320s, four A321s, 24 A330s, 53 A350 XWBs, 10 A380s, two 747s, 78 777s and 37 787 Dreamliner.
