Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “Eight new destinations will be joining our network this year in addition to the recently announced gateways of Santorini, Greece; Dubrovnik, Croatia; and Osaka, Japan. With these new routes, our operations will expand to 177 destinations around the world, reinforcing our position as one of the world’s most connected airlines. This ensures we can continue to provide our passengers more options and flexibility when planning their business and leisure travel.”

The eight new routes ate Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Cebu, Accra, Trabzon, Luanda, Lyon and Siem Reap. Most of the flights will commence at around April this year. The routes to Luanda and Siem Reap will start in October and November respectively.

Four new destinations in South East Asia will be available to Qatar Airways passengers for the first time. The new codeshare agreement has commenced on January 27, 2020. It underlines the good partnership between the airlines and will strengthen the airline´s networks. Qatar Airways and Malaysia Airlines first started working together back in 2001.

Through this cooperation, we will be able to provide travel options for our outbound travellers as well as inviting more travellers to experience the beauty Malaysia has to offer. We look forward to sharing our Malaysian hospitality further and provide a truly Malaysian experience for our passengers.”

With the agreement, Malaysia Airlines passengers can book flights to 20 additional Qatar Airways gateways in Europe, Africa and America. In return, Qatar Airways passengers will benefit from being able to book flights to Sibu, Alor Setar, Medan and Surabaya.
