Upcoming cabin crew strikes in Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and Portugal reflect in 190 pre-cancelled Ryanair flights. All strikes are expected for Friday, 28 September. According to the airline, 8% of all daily 2400 flights have been cancelled.

The strikes have been called by unions in the respective countries. Ryanair stated, that the strikes in Portugal, Spain and Italy were initiated by crew member of other airlines. In total, 30,000 Ryanair customers are likely to be affected by the disruptions.

Ryanair’s Kenny Jacobs commented: "These repeated unnecessary strikes are damaging Ryanair’s business and our customer confidence at a time when oil prices are rising strongly, and if they continue, it is inevitable that we will have to look again at our capacity growth this winter and in summer 2019."

Recently, Ryanair confirmed a CLA (Contributor License Agreement) with the three main cabin crew unions in Italy. Additionally, the airline said that in recent weeks it has made process with crew agreements in Ireland, UK, Italy and Germany.

The controversial Irish airline experienced heavy public criticism in the past years, as it was ignoring pilot unions for a long time. Moreover, working conditions for cockpit and cabin crew members are reportedly among the worst in the branch. This year, Ryanair has finally started to change these circumstances.

Ryanair is headquartered in Ireland and operates as major Low-Cost carrier throughout Europe. Its fleet consists of 444 Boeing 737-800s. Ryanair expects to take delivery of new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft as well.
