Freight Oman Air Cargo opens cargo hub at Muscat

Oman Air Cargo has opened its upgraded cargo hub facility at the Muscat International Air Cargo Terminal.
Both parties have agreed, that FedEx Express will begin to fly regularly scheduled cargo flights into SBD International Airport. Currently, freight carrier UPS is the only mayor cargo airline at the airport.
FedEx Express will occupy a total of 57,000 square foot at the airport. The carrier will decree over a facility to operate its cargo procedures. An agreement was signed between the airport authority and the airline for 10 years.
In a statement, the airport wrote: "Located 60 miles east of Los Angeles along the I-10 corridor, SBD is ideally located to support the logistics industry. With growing activity and convenient access to three major interstate highways (I-10, I-210 and I-215), air cargo operators like FedEx Express will be able to expedite deliveries to end users and consumers. The airport’s location, combined with newly-expanded state-of-the-art infrastructure, offers significant air cargo opportunities to the logistics industry."
It is expected, that FedEx Express will start daily scheduled cargo flights in October 2018.
Carey Davis, Mayor of the City of San Bernardino, and President of the San Bernardino International Airport Authority said: “Our strategic investment in the Airport and surrounding business centre continues to strengthen our community by bringing jobs and commerce to the region. We are very excited to have FedEx expand flight operations into SBD International Airport. The Airport continues to serve as a major contributor to the economic growth in San Bernardino.”
SBD International Airport is located 60 miles east of Los Angeles downtown in California. The airport has one runway and operates as general aviation and cargo airport. As the airport is close to three interstate highways, especially cargo operators benefit from SBD Airport´s location. The airport´s facilities include 60 acres of concrete ramp, a newly built 5,000 square foot cross-dock building and specialized cargo equipment.
