Freight First Airbus A330-200P2F enters service

DHL Express has become the first operator to take delivery of the A330-300 Passenger-to-Freighter (P2F) converted aircraft from Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW), the joint venture between ST Aerospace and Airbus.

Freight Air Canada Cargo and Cargojet to end cooperation by end of 2017

The cooperation agreement between Air Canada Cargo and Cargojet will expire at the end of 2017. As a consequence, the dedicated freighter service from Toronto to Mexico, Dallas-Fort Worth, Atlanta, Bogota, Lima and Frankfurt will be terminated.

Freight Courier SF Express buys two Boeing 747-400F via online auction

According to an article published by the South China Morning Post, China’s leading private courier SF Express has acquired two Boeing 747-400F aircraft via an online auction on Alibaba’s e-shopping platform Taobao, for a price of 322.8 million yuan, which is equal to approximately 49 million US-dollars. 

Freight Ethiopian Airlines announces order for four Boeing 777 Freighters

Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines announced an order for four Boeing 777 Freighters in a deal valued at more than $1.3 billion at list prices at the Dubai Airshow 2017. The deal includes a new order for two freighters. It also includes two freighters the airline announced as a commitment in June that finalized into a firm order and posted on Boeing's Orders & Deliveries website this month.

Freight Astral Aviation leases a first Boeing 747-400F

Kenya’s Astral Aviation has signed a wet-lease agreement for a Boeing 747-400F with Air Atlantic Icelandic. This deal has the intention to strengthen the company’s presence in Africa “and especially the Kenyan perishables market, adding capacity for flowers and vegetables from Nairobi to the UK”. Astral Aviation has leased the aircraft in cooperation with Network Airline Management - a division of the Network Aviation Group.

Freight EVA Air receives first Boeing 777F

Taiwanese EVA Air took delivery of its first Boeing 777 freighter, registration number B-16781, at the Boeing Everett Delivery Center in Seattle. The carrier flew its newest freighter from Paine Field to Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). Where the airport welcomed Taiwan’s first Boeing 777 freighter with a water cannon ceremony.

Freight FedEx Express buys up to 50 ATR 72-600F

FedEx Express and ATR have signed a contract for a firm purchase of 30 ATR 72-600 freighters and 20 options. The aircraft will be delivered from 2020 onwards.

Freight Qatar Airways expands despite crisis

Due to the capped trade links, the state of Qatar has to boost it´s imports. This is reflected in the ongoing growth of the national cargo carrier, Qatar Airways Cargo. Recently, Qatar Airways Cargo welcomed it´s first Boeing 747-8 Freighter and it´s 13th Boeing 777 Freighter, which takes the overall fleet size to 22 aircraft. The Gulf carrier operates an additional fleet of eight Airbus A330 Freighters.

Freight Cargolux and Emirates SkyCargo to commence a codeshare partnership

On October 10, 2017, the freight carriers Cargolux and Emirates SkyCargo have announced plans to work together within a codesharing partnership for air cargo transportation. According to the official press release of Emirates SkyCargo “The agreement was signed in Dubai by Nabil Sultan, Emirates Divisional Senior Vice President, Cargo and Richard Forson, President & CEO Cargolux Airlines in the presence of François Bausch, Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, Luxembourg”.

Freight Panalpina completes acquisition of Air Connection

International freight forwarding and logistics company Panalpina announced the completion of the acquisition of Air Connection, a specialized forwarder of flowers and vegetables following the approval by the Competition Authority of Kenya. The move follows Panalpina’s acquisition of Airflo in 2016 and positions the company as a clear market leader in perishables in Kenya.

Freight UPS and China's SF Holding establish a joint venture

The US-based cargo supplier UPS has announced plans to establish a joint venture with China's SF Holding, the parent company of SF Express.
