General Aviation Textron Aviation announces Citation M2 Gen2 and XLS Gen2 jets

Cessna, a Textron Aviation brand, has revealed two next generation business jets. The Cessna Citation M2 Gen2 and the Cessna Citation XLS Gen2. Both aircraft are successors of the first generation.

The company revealed the updated business jets on the National Business Aviation Association - Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE). The aircraft stand for the next generation of technology, sustainability, and passenger comfort.

Textron Aviation revealed that deliveries of the new models can be expected by the end of the first quarter of 2022 for the Citation M2 Gen2 and the second quarter of 2022 for the XLS Gen2. At NBAA-BACE, the company has interior mock-ups of the aircraft.

Christi Tannahill, senior vice president, Customer Experience, commented on the changes made to the aircraft: "With the mindset that no detail is too small when shaping customer flight experiences, we've touched all areas of these aircraft to create the Citation M2 Gen2 and the Citation XLS Gen2 - from the cockpit to cargo area and everywhere in between."

"Shaped by extensive customer feedback, the upgrades to these aircraft embody the latest in technology and design. These new models represent a significant commitment from Textron Aviation as we continue to bring best-in-class performance and features to our customers," Tannahill added.

The M2 Gen2 features a new cabin experience with new interior design, new lighting solutions and additional storage. Main goal of the revised aircraft design was it, to enhance pilot and passenger comfort and productivity.

In the cockpit of the M2 Gen2, co-pilots now have three inches more legroom for better comfort. New technology can be found in the cabin, too. Passengers will be able to use USB-A ports at each cabin seats and USB-C ports in the club area of the cabin.

With the XLS Gen2, Textron Aviation wanted to introduce a new cabin experience. “A new pedestal seat design enhances passenger comfort with individual controls, new styling and optional quilting, while the forward couch features an optional fold-down capability, which allows passengers to access baggage in flight,” Textron explained.

Also, the XLS Gen2 features a new cabin management system with touchscreen. USB charging ports are available at every seat, too.
