The Phoenix Police Department has signed a purchase agreement with manufacturer Airbus Helicopters for five H125 aircraft. Once delivered, the helicopters will modernize the operator´s fleet and will make operations more sustainable and cost efficient.

Delivery of the first of the five helicopters is scheduled for next year. Phoenix Police will use the aircraft for law enforcement missions throughout the state of Arizona. With its capabilities, the H125 is specifically suited for this job.

Paul Apolinar, chief pilot at Phoenix Police Department, explained: “Our responsibility is to protect and serve the Phoenix community, and these aircraft will allow us not only to protect from the skies, but to perform rescues in remote locations all over Arizona. We needed an aircraft that excels in hot temperatures, and the H125 is really the best aircraft for the job in such conditions”

Ron Kelley, airborne law enforcement segment manager at Airbus Helicopters, Inc., then added: “The H125 is one of the most popular law enforcement helicopters in the U.S., for good reason […] Its versatility and high performance make it an ideal platform for diverse law enforcement missions, including aerial surveillance and search and rescue, and is a proven solution that’s consistently ready for the call when it’s needed most.”

In the last decade, the H125 has been accounting for nearly half of all intermediate single-engine helicopters delivered to North American customers, underlining the popularity of the helicopter in the county´s circumstances.

Main highlights of the H125 are dual hydraulics, dual channel FADEC, a glass-panel cockpit display and a crash resistant fuel system. In the United States, the H125 is being built at Airbus Helicopters facility in Columbus, Mississippi.

According to the manufacturer, Airbus Helicopters is the leading supplier of helicopters in the United States. The European company has been present in the market for more than 50 years. In total, Airbus Helicopters employs around 700 people in the country.
