Helicopters EmbraerX presents first eVTOL concept

EmbraerX has unveiled a first concept for an electrical Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

The presentation was held during the Uber Elevate 2018 event in Los Angeles, California.

EmbraerX´s eVTOL concept aircraft will transport passengers in an urban environment. The aircraft is equipped with several safety functions and offers a low footprint for the environment, in regards of emissions and noise. Especially the passenger experience during the flight stood in the foreground during the development.

EmbraerX is an Embraer organization, focussing on developing new innovations and disruptive businesses. The company worked hand in hand with several companies and institutions to develop the concept aircraft.

Antonio Campello, President & CEO of EmbraerX, added: “We are developing solutions to bring on-demand air transportation to urban areas to improve quality of life for millions of people. Our collaboration with key stakeholders will accelerate the arrival of this new ecosystem [...] This is one example of how EmbraerX is committed to exploring a range of disruptive products and services that could revolutionize the business of air transportation.”

In the process of designing the eVTOL concept, EmbraerX conducted interactions with possible urban air travellers and asked for their experiences and wishes. EmbraerX stated, that it “will continue to engage with communities to expedite the development of desired solutions for this new market.”
