Aircraft manufacturer Airbus and company HTM Helicopters have signed an agreement for the purchase of two additional H145 helicopters. When delivered, HTM is set to become the first operator to use the aircraft type in the Offshore Wind segment.

Thomas Hein, Head of Sales Western Europe at Airbus Helicopters commented: “We thank HTM for their continued trust in Airbus Helicopters and our products [...] Since HTM started offshore wind operations in 2008, they rely on H135 and H145 helicopters for their demanding operations.”

The first of the two aircraft is likely to be delivered in the fourth quarter of this year, while the second airframe will be handed over in the middle of next year. The four-bladed H145s will later be upgraded with a new five-bladed rotor system by the operator´s maintenance partner.

According to the manufacturer, HTM will use the aircraft from its operational bases at Norden-Norddeich, Emden, Borkum and Helgoland, all in the coast-area of Germany. The main missions performed with the H145s will be passenger transport to and from wind farms.

Moreover, the aircraft is expected to be used for hoisting technicians to the wind-turbines. For these missions, the helicopters will be equipped with floatation equipment and a cargo hook, allowing the operator to perform missions as efficient and safe as possible.

Regarding its H145 helicopter, Airbus stated: "Powered by two Safran Arriel 2E engines, the H145 is equipped with full authority digital engine control (FADEC) and the Helionix digital avionics suite. It includes a high performance 4-axis autopilot, increasing safety and reducing pilot workload. Its particularly low acoustic footprint makes the H145 the quietest helicopter in its class."

HTM Helicopters is a German helicopter company and one of the largest in the country. The company employs around 150 people and is being fully owned by the HERISTO Aktiengesellschaft since April 2020.

Core business of the HTM Group is the execution of helicopter services for civil and military customers, offshore operations, emergency medical services, commercial air transport flight training and aerial work.
