Industry Airbus appoints Guillaume Faury as new CEO

The directors’ board at Airbus has selected Guillaume Faury as future Airbus Chief Executive Officer (CEO), who will succeed Tom Enders.

Airbus has announced, that it has found the successor of its current Chief Executive Officer Tom Enders. Guillaume Faury will become Airbus´ strongest man in April 2019.

Faury currently serves as President at Airbus Commercial Aircraft and will succeed Tom Enders, who will remain CEO until April 10, 2019, when Airbus will held its Annual General Meeting. Then, the appointment of Faury will be forwarded to all shareholders.

Tom Enders, CEO of Airbus, said: “Guillaume is an excellent choice. He has gained broad industrial and aeronautic experience over many years and in many roles both inside and outside Airbus. With his strong values and international mindset, Guillaume stands for the new generation of leaders that Airbus needs for the coming decade. He knows he can rely on me to facilitate a smooth transition.”

Between 1998 and 2008, Faury served in management roles at Eurocopter. He later became Executive Vice President for Commercial Programmes and then for Research and Development. After his time at Eurocopter, Faury joined Pegueot´s managing board, before returning to Airbus in 2013 as CEO of Airbus Helicopters.

“For the coming months I remain fully dedicated to leading the commercial aircraft business, delivering our utmost to satisfy our commercial aircraft customers and transitioning the organisation to the next generation of leaders,” Faury added.

Successor Tom Enders has been CEO of Airbus SE since June 2012, after having been CEO of Airbus´ Commercial Aircraft Division since 2007. Between 2005 and 2007, Enders served as Co-CEO of EADS.
