As part of their long-term leasing-agreement, Atlantic Airways has received its second Airbus A320neo from Air Lease Corporation. The aircraft for the national carrier of the Faroe Islands was part of ALC´s order book with Airbus.

Grant Levy, Executive Vice President of Air Lease Corporation commented: “We are pleased to announce this second A320-200neo delivery to Atlantic Airways today [...] ALC introduced the A320-200neo to Atlantic Airways’ fleet last year and it has greatly enhanced the passenger experience and overall operations of the airline.  We are confident that this second A320neo from ALC will continue to support the national carrier’s excellent operations.”

Last year, Atlantic Airways received its first of the two aircraft after agreeing a purchase deal with manufacturer Airbus. Registered as OY-RCK, the aircraft has been operating flights from the Faroe Islands to destinations throughout Europe.

The aircraft are being powered by CFM International LEAP-1A26 high-bypass engines, which are more efficient and cost saving than engines of previous generations. Next to the engines, the aircraft also features state-of-the-art aerodynamical advantages, a new cabin and avionics.

One of the main goals of Atlantic Airways is it, to reduce its environmental footprint. The A320neo helps the airline to reach this goal. Compared to previous-generation aircraft, the type is around 15-20% more efficient, allowing Atlantic Airways to be more competitive with other airlines.

The aircraft is also using a special technology, which allows the airline to safely navigate to and from its main airport at Vágar, which has lower visibility conditions and difficult territories to operate in. Moreover, this technology reduces the turbulence.

Atlantic Airways is mainly operating from Vágar since November 1987, where the airline was founded. The current fleet consists of one Airbus A319, one A320ceo and the two A320neos. In the past, Atlantic Airways was operating with British Aerospace Avro aircraft. Currently, Atlantic employs around 180 people and is mainly serving commercial destinations in Scandinavia and Spain.

ALC is an aircraft leasing company based in Los Angeles, California. The company has customers around the world and several aircraft of the backlogs of manufacturers like Airbus or Boeing.
