Industry Chorus Aviation orders nine CRJ900 aircraft

Chorus Aviation has published, that it has ordered nine additional CRJ900 aircraft from Bombardier.

The commercial subsidiary airline of Chorus Aviation Inc. has finalized an agreement for the firm purchase of nine Bombardier CRJ900 regional aircraft. According to current list prices, the deal is valued at approximately US$ 437 million.

Jazz Aviation LP, as a subsidiary airline of Chorus Aviation, will be operating the aircraft on behalf of Air Canada Express in the respective livery and cabin design. Jazz Air is currently flying with 11 CRJ200s, 16 CRJ700s and five CRJ900s.

The nine CRJ900s will help Jazz and Chorus to furthermore strengthen the network in the regional aviation market. In addition, the recently launched Atmosphére cabin will be installed into the aircraft. Jazz will become the first Canadian operator of the cabin.

Joseph Randell, President and Chief Executive Officer, Chorus added: “The addition of these new CRJ900 aircraft is part of the ongoing modernization of our Jazz fleet […] These aircraft provide unit operating costs that are amongst the lowest of any regional aircraft, allowing us to more effectively compete while addressing changing market demand.”

Jazz´s CRJ900 aircraft can accommodate 76 passengers in a two-class configuration. The first delivery of the Atmosphére cabin aircraft is set for the first half of 2020.

Chorus Aviation is headquartered in Halifax, Canada, and was incorporated in 2010. For eight years now, the company has been leasing its owned regional aircraft to Jazz´s Air Canada Express. Chorus seeks to become a leading provider of regional aircraft leases under the premises to deliver regional aviation to the world.

Jazz Aviation LP has been active in Canadian Aviation since the 1930s. It is the largest regional carrier in Canada and has a workforce of approximately 4,600 people. Jazz serves various markets throughout North America. The fleet currently consists of 32 Canadair CRJ aircraft and 90 Dash 8 turboprops.
