On Tuesday, the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2019 (AIX 2019) has started in Hamburg. Exhibitors from across the industry are representing their products and solutions. The trade fair is taking place in Hamburg since 2002 and celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. AIX is an excellent chance for companies to connect and network with other industry specialists.

Once again, the “Hanse-Pavilion”, which is being organised and managed by Hanse-Aerospace, is one of the largest stand on the fair. More than 2,000m2 are filled with focused cabin competence. As Germany´s most significant association for suppliers and service companies, small and medium-sized enterprises are getting connected through Hanse-Aerospace on the AIX. In total, 94 exhibitors are presenting themselves at the Hanse-Pavilion.

Within the framework of our Hanse-Pavilion, we would like to present to you eFactory, a new manufacturing platform that connects core platforms into a federated smart factory ecosystem. With eFactory, an interoperable “Data Spine” will allow various platforms to interact and to benefit from each other’s tools and competences. The four core platforms coming into the eFactory federation are DIGICOR, NIMBLE, COMPOSITION and vf-OS.

DIGICOR has established itself as a one-stop-shop provider for SMEs that can take advantage of those business opportunities. On the platform, OEMs can advertise their tenders to SMEs, which then can search for new partners and networks.

COMPOSITION has specialised on developing data analytic tools. The integrated information management system (IIMS) optimises internal productions by leveraging data, productivity tools and knowledge. COMPOSITION is a Deep Learning Toolkit, which can dynamically react to changing market requirements.

As an ecosystem for medium-sized platforms, NIMBLE has developed a catalogue system that allows companies to set-up their product portfolio. European manufacturing companies can search for fitting partners in the supply chain. NIMBLE is especially interesting for companies that look to organise logistics and to develop B2B and M2M data exchange channels.

The fourth platform within the eFactory ecosystem is operating system vf-OS, which brings various applications and services for the connected factory of the future together. vf-OS helps customers to optimise manufacturing and logistical processes.

The eFactory project has officially started in January 2019, and the team has already held its kick-off meeting at Valencia, with the next meeting in Bonn coming up this month. eFactory has received a €16,5 million budget from the European Union, and currently, 30 partners and companies are working on this project.

In the long run, eFactory aims at becoming a renowned platform that finds the perfect partners in the marketplace. In-house developed software tools will allow collaborative bids and benefits in work-flows for design, production, planning, scheduling and risk management. The eFactory platform is infinitely expandable and is on its way to becoming an important industry interface.
