Industry Pratt & Whitney and JetBlue sign service agreement for 230 engines

U.S.-Carrier JetBlue and Pratt & Whitney have signed a long-term service agreement for 230 aircraft engines.

Through its affiliate IAE International Aero Engines AG, Pratt & Whitney announced it has signed a long-term partnership for the service of 230 V2500 engines for airline JetBlue. For 13 years, the U.S.-Carrier will make use of the company´s EngineWise program.

The agreement was made for the V2500 engine, which is powering the airline´s A320ceo family fleet. The V2500 has been a very reliable engine, as Steve Priest, Chief Financial Officer at JetBlue confirmed: "The V2500 engine has been the workhorse of the JetBlue fleet since the airline's inception [...] This agreement provides predictable maintenance and supports efficient operations needed to serve our customers for many years to come."

Currently, JetBlue is flying with nearly 200 Airbus A320ceo Family aircraft that are being powered by the engine. Furthermore, the carrier has 85 A320neo family aircraft on order, of which 10 have already been delivered. These aircraft are powered by GTF engines.

IAE is offering the V2500 engine to customers. The company is a multinational aero engine consortium, whose shareholders are Pratt & Whitney, Japanese Aero Engines Corporation, MTU Aero Engines and Pratt & Whitney Aero Engines International GmbH.

Rick Deurloo, chief commercial officer at Pratt & Whitney commented: "We truly appreciate our long-standing and successful relationship with JetBlue [...] We are committed to partnering with the airline on V2500 engine maintenance to optimize fleet performance well into the future."

Pratt & Whitney and its joint ventures are currently operating three maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service stations. In total, there are 18 MRO facilities for the V2500 engine on the globe. The EngineWise service portfolio provides operators with aftermarket services to enhance fleet availability and engine performance.

JetBlue is a U.S.-American airline that was founded in 1999. The carrier has its main operational base at New York JFK Airport and currently operates with 130 Airbus A320ceos, 77 A321s, of which 10 are A321neos, and with 15 Embraer ERJ-190s.

Pratt & Whitney is a unit of Raytheon Technologies and a service provider in design, manufacturing and service of aircraft and helicopter engines. Parent company Raytheon employs 195,00 peoples around the world.
