ANA Holdings is launching its new low-cost brand for medium-haul international routes: AirJapan. The carrier has now announced that it will commence passenger service on February 9, 2024. Using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, AirJapan will initially operate flights between Tokyo-Narita Airport and Bangkok in Thailand.

As being part of the ANA Group, flights will take off from Narita’s Terminal 1, in which mainline carrier ANA is operating most of its flights through, meaning that AirJapan customers will have the opportunity for easy transits.

Hideki Mineguchi, President of AirJapan, commented: "It is our hope that by launching AirJapan, we can showcase the very best of Japan from inside the cabin to enhance their travel journey […] We are excited and eagerly anticipate welcoming passengers onboard to experience the exceptional journey that AirJapan offers."

According to the air fares, AirJapan is operating as low-cost carrier. ANA seeks to attract both leisure and business travelers on the route and will leave its passengers the choice of either using ANA Group's quality of full-service carrier (FSC) or the convenience of low cost carrier (LCC) in AirJapan.

AirJapan is ANA’s answer to Zipair, a medium- and long-haul low-cost carrier launched by Japan Airlines (JAL) in 2018. Zipair is also using 787 Dreamliner aircraft on routes to the United States and also Asian destinations like Bangkok.
