Start-Ups Vietstar Airlines aims launch of LCC service in 2018
According to “Air Transport World”, Ho Chi Minh City-based Vietstar Airlines has plans to begin Low-Cost operations with Boeing 737-800 in 2018.
The carrier is likely to lease five Boeing 737-800, according to Vietstar Aero Engineering commercial director Trinh Quoc Cuong. By 2020, Vietstar plans to have a fleet of 15 aircraft.
According to the report, Cuong said that Vietstar Airlines still awaits governmental approval and certification to begin operations with narrow-bodied aircraft. In 2016, Vietstar applied for an air operator´s certificate, but which got denied due to a lack of slots at Ho Chi Minh City airport. Furthermore, there are plenty of other Start-Up airlines applying to launch flight operations in Vietnam.
Its network will include international, but also domestic routes. Most likely, Vietstar will start competing on the route from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi.
